Val d'Orcia is situated in the province of Siena and partly in Grosseto. In the centre crosses the Orcia River from which the region gets its name.
Val d'Orcia is characterised by delightful panoramic landscapes and from many different medieval villages, three of them very famous; Pienza, Montalcino and Motepulciano. The characteristic tree of this region is the cypress. The typical food and drink are; Pici pasta, Pecorino cheese of Pienza, Brunello wine of Montalcino, the Nobile wine of Montepulciano and the new DOC denomination of the Orcia Wine.

Tour Itinerary:

  • Day 1: In the morning a guided tour to the city of Arezzo. Pass through the countryside with the filming locations from the movie ‘La Vita è Bella’ by Roberto Benigni. Lunch in Arezzo’s historical centre - an elegant restaurant under the ”Logge of Vasari” followed by shopping. In the afternoon, a visit of the medieval town Lucignano and a stop at l'Albero dell'Amore “The tree of Love”, this is followed by shopping in a factory outlet shop.
  • Day 2: A guided walk in the beautiful medieval city of Pienza, with visit to a small Pecorino cheese dairy with lunch tasting. In the afternoon a guided tour around the centre of Montepulciano with wine tasting in 2 wine cellars followed by shopping.
  • Day 3: In the morning a road trip in a vintage cabriolet car along the famous Cassia road. This is the road where the old race “Mille Miglia” took place.
  • Day 4: In the morning a visit to Siena with a guide. Lunch is in a traditional Siena restaurant. In the afternoon a guided tour of San Gimignano - the medieval town with its original towers.
